Don currently maintains the scanners, computers, and software that comprise the workstations we use in our archival scanning services. His
role as we focus our efforts on digital image repositories will involve the coordination of the service components involved in the development
process and the management of the products of our work as they transition from archival scans to digital repository objects.
Mr. Baird’s ties to Virginia Tech span four decades as student, photographer, and photo supervisor.
His daily photo production work has put him in contact with admiinstrators, faculty, and students from
departments throughout the university. Twice nominated for the President’s Award for Excellence,
John is now involved in digital archiving.
Verner’s current duties include scanning, digital photography, image editing, and printing. He has
worked at VT for 22 years, starting after a stint in the Army where he also served as a photographer. Verner
graduated with a BS/BA in biology/studio art from UVA in 1977. His current outside interests include boating
and gardening.
At Virginia Tech for over 24 years, Cathy began in publication design, but has since added archival scanning
to her skills. Mother of two sons, Jeromy and Jed, her outside interests include gardening, taking her two
dogs on hikes, and pottery, which she shares with her husband, Jim, who is a pottery instructor.
Dr. Worley has taught graduate seminars on preparing digital images for instructional technology applications and conducted research on the
effects of highlight color as an image charactistic for visual learning. He currently works with faculty and departments on imaging projects
in an ongoing effort to support digital repositories at Virginia Tech.
